land of the living

i love getting into the hot hot shower after days of being sick and staying in the same stinky clothes and scrubbing every last little bit of flu memory from my skin. i finally did that today, somewhere around 2pm when i decided it was time to re-join the land of the living. it felt so good to blow dry my clean hair and put some make up on. spencer's birthday is tomorrow so i ran a few errands to get ready for his birthday breakfast and it felt so good to be out in the fresh air! i even went to book club tonight, which i love - why have i never blogged about book club? next month. my stomach even feels pretty good after being served a super yummy but very rich treat, so life is good. i love being well, and some times it takes being sick to appreciate your health!
side note: it's after midnight and so i'm not looking as "fresh" in this photo as i feel. also, the flash is not my friend. i hate using a flash, but i missed my opportunity to take a self portait in day light today, so for now it has to do.

SPT - not so wordless edition

our SPTs for november are supposed to be wordless...photos that tell the stories themselves. however, this one needs a little explaining...same pipe as last month, different place, lots of leaks - SIX - and counting. now i have THREE giant holes in my ceiling, and a repair man coming on friday to replace the entire pipe this time. his genius assessment was, "well girl, i think you gotta bad pipe" - NO KIDDING! i'm not really looking forward to more dry wall dust and paint, but i don't think the ceiling gaps will really go with thanksgiving dinner. so i just keep telling myself... i love my house. i love my house. i love my house....

spt - 100 things edition

i'm a little behind on the spts, two weeks to be exact and so this is a two for one. as a reminder, lelly's spt challenge this month is revisiting our 100 things about me list (mine's on the side) and elaborating a little more on numbers 7, 14, 21, and 28...check out lelly's blog and take the challenge yourself - you won't regret it!
on the with spt. my number fourteen is "i was born with rose colored glasses on my eyes". i've always naturally tried to see the good in everyone and i'm definitely a "the glass is half full" kind of a girl. this can be good, i mean really, it's not bad to have a cheery disposition, even mary poppins taught us that. but it does mean that i sometimes miss the bad stuff that you're supposed to see. the bad stuff that everyone else seems to see. i think that's called niavite. i think "gift of discernment" as come to me later in life, mostly through life experiences and so i would say i'm definitely a better judge of character, especially my own and i'm way better at listening to hair that stands on end when something is not quite right, but it's taken a while to perfect that skill. i still try to see the world with rose colored glasses, i don't think it's an entirely bad thing. in fact, pink is a great thing for drowning out the grey.
my number twenty-one is "i appreciate genuine people and try to be one myself as much as possible". funny how both of these spts are bi-products of growing up and life experience. i guess it's just that the older i get, the less tolerance i have for fake people, investing in them is such a waste of time and energy, i just don't have any extra of either of those things. for a long time i felt like i had to be a certain kind of teenager, then later, a certain kind of mom, a certain kind of housekeeper, homemaker, scraperbooker, photographer, body type (still struggling with this one), the list goes on forever. at some point i realized how dumb that is because i could never really be my best self while persuing someone else's. i don't really think it was meant to be a competition. so i try, as much as i can, to be genuinely me. this means, i'm not the perfect mom, we DO eat white bread here sometimes (GASP!), i DO have an untidy house sometimes and i don't enjoy laundry, not every photograph is award winning and yes i have way too much junk in my trunk. but i'm fun dammit, and i'm learning to embrace all of it. (except my grey hair - this photo is of my very UN-genuine hair that gets dyed every 5-6 weeks!) it's a life long process.

SPT - 100 things about me

during the month of october, lelly's SPT challenge is to elborate on our 100 things about me list, today is #7. (if you want to see my list, there's a link to it on my side bar). i wrote out my list a long time ago to try to jump start my blog, it's appropriate now i guess that i examine it a little closer. i'll be honest, #7 is kind of a tough place to start, "i wish my husband would agree to having another baby", is sort of a can of worms that leaves me feeling torn between diving all the way in, or just skimming the surface...

i've been sitting at the keyboard now for several minutes trying to simplify the whole thing: my feelings, rich's feelings, depression and trying to fill the hole in my soul with food, guilt over feeling sad about it because i'm so blessed have four other beautiful children that i adore, feeding the guilt with more food, my obsession with odd numbers, letting go of my own plan and embracing god's plan instead, worrying about ethan being a loner, anger, feeling spiritualy, emotionally & physically 'stuck' and unsure, etc. so much could be said about each of these things, it's just so complicated, so gray where i prefer more black and white. most days i feel really ok about calling our family complete. some days it feels more like denial. the bottom line is that i haven't yet come full circle, i'm still healing, still figuring out what i'm supposed to be learning from this life experience. so far: enjoying the moment, gratitude for my family and blessings, and especially, empathy. so even though i have moments that are still tough, there is light at the end of this tunnel where for a long time there wasn't, and so, life. is. good. really. i mean, look how lucky i am!

SPT - because of a blogger - personal growth edition

this was the easiest of the five SPT posts for september's theme: because of a blogger - personal growth edition. i guess because i can think of many ways i have achieved personal growth in the past 15 months since i began posting. in the spirit of keeping things short and sweet, i made a list of things i've learned about me and ways i've grown because of blogging...

1. it's ok to post snap shots of my life. not every photograph has to be perfect - as a photographer worried about how every photo is a reflection of me and my work, this was hard to let go of, still is sometimes.
2. my blog is sort of like physical evidence for me, that i really am here on this planet, making a difference, and that i'm important, what i do is important. AND that we have FUN and life is wonderful. this was huge for me.
3. i have a connection, far more than just electronic, to so many women and their amazing life stories. i am not the only woman out there who feels lonely and worried and psychotic sometimes. and recognizing other's needs, and doing what i can to help, makes me forget about my own worries.4. i have good ideas and it's fun to share them.
5. everyone else has great ideas and i love to copy them!

6. it's ok to have a mix of "random" posts and "this is what i did today" posts (or blogumentary style - as jenny calls it!). for a while i was completely caught up in the guilt i was having over not documenting every minute of every day. i know now that it's ok to just have my own style which is a little bit of both.

7. i learned how to take self portaits and now I'M in the photographs too.8. i see how important it is to me to keep in touch with family and friends. near and far. this might be one of my favorite things about blogging. i really wish everyone had a blog!

9. i feel like i was always a pretty good sender of thank you notes and random notes of kindness, but i am always thinking about it now. and, now i'm also the recipient of it and that's always a good thing.

10. i have four new girlfriends that i hold dear to my heart, who used to be more like aquaintences. we all live in the same small city, our kids even go to the same small schools. but the way we got to know each other was through our blogs and now, birthdays, thursdays and girl's day out will never be the same! (in a good way) i had no idea how much i would need their love and friendship in the last year and how much they would help me to grow as a mom and a woman and a friend.i am a blogger - and i love it! this may be one of my cheesiest posts ever...
**how has blogging my your life better?**
**will you check out lelly's blog and do an spt too?**

SPT

SPT - because of a blogger month - in the kitchen edition
thanksgiving has always been a holiday that i try to do everything a little over the top. i don't make anything that isn't from scratch, with exception to the pie crust, they're just such a pain! i've collected the best recipes from sister-in-laws and friends and i love that it's such a fun mix of everything yummy. it has turned out to be one of my favorite holidays and i don't even like turkey! which brings me to the SPT part of this post. i love pioneer woman's cooking blog, her regular blog is fun too but the cooking is so great, step by step photographs and funny bits of info all along the way. she makes it easy to try everything she does. so, last year when she started working on some thanksgiving recipes, i knew i would have to try a few. she made brining a turkey look like fun and relatively easy and she swore that it made a huge difference with the taste of the turkey. and since the turkey itself is not the part i enjoy i figured i would give it a try. it was fun - mostly because i was at ann's house and we laughed a lot - and it wasn't hard at all, but, i just don't know that it made that big of a difference in the taste, it was pretty much still boring turkey taste. i will brine my turkey again this year, but i'm going to try a different brine recipe to see if it changes anything. so because of a blogger, i brined a turkey and i LOVE pioneer woman! so much, that some girlfriends and i started our own cooking blog - blogger mom's cook - and we do cook, lots of good stuff, so check it out and tell us what you think.

shade - spt

the past several years now i've gotten up early, really really, early, thrown on a hat and driven down town to sit in the dark for a few hours to save our family a spot on the "shady" side of the street for the annual pioneer day parade. in the past i've taken a book because it's kind of a lonely three or four hours waiting until it's "legal" to actually save a spot (there's definitely something wrong with the system, but whatever). this seems like an extreme thing to do just for a shady spot, but since all the spaces are full by 4:30am or so, i must not be the only one who doesn't like sitting in the blaring sun.

this year began what i hope is a long tradition of girlfriends saving spots in the wee hours of the morning. kristy and i met a 3:30 AM to save our spots together and she made the whole experience managable, and FUN. we drank crystal light energy drinks to stay awake, listened to ABBA on her ipod, chatted about everything, froze somewhere around 5am and counted down the minutes to when the local einstein's bagels opened up so we could get some food! (mental note: next year bring snacks!) breakfast was so yummy, if you've never had a breakfast bagel from einstein's you definitely should. i was cold enough that it seemed like a good excuse to get a tall steamed milk with vanilla - one of my favorite treats - once it's cooled off slightly, ouch!later on after 7am came and went and our spot was secure, we still stood around chatting for another twenty minutes, apparently four hours isn't enough time to talk about everything you want to talk about. i love kristy, she makes everything fun with her happy attitude and funny stories, we always have plenty to laugh about! i hope we are saving spots every year for a long time. and it was worth it! we had great seats that ended up being in the shade about half the time! so what extreme measures would you go to enjoy the shade?

sun - SPT

ok, ok, i know i haven't finished may's spt theme yet, the truth is, i can't think of anything to do for "something borrowed", or "something blue" and since i'm so behind, i'm just skipping ahead to july's theme which is the five elements of summer: sun, water, shade, grass and ice cream. i'll start with "sun"...

if i could go back in time and re-do some of the stupid things i've done, (and believe me the list is long) somewhere towards the top of my list would be tanning. i cringe when i think of the many hours spend purposely smothering my skin in oil and laying out for no other reason than to fry myself like a piece of bacon. yikes! what was i thinking? i'm not sure what changed my mind about the sun, maybe it was my first sunspot or being more educated about how harmful the sunrays can really be. ok, i'm lying, it's wrinkles - i don't want wrinkles - there, i said it! shallow but true, so ever since i was about twenty or so i have been a major sunscreen fanatic - if i'm ever caught in any kind of sun without it, i feel like the wicked witch of the east in water. i can just feel the wrinkles and sunspots jumping out of my skin and it makes me a little crazy. i wear sunscreen EVERY DAY, all year long no matter the weather, and most days i apply more than once.i'm always looking for the latest and greatest sunscreen, i have a hard time walking past the display at target, an even harder time not choosing a new one to try. this photo is just a small sampling of the many different kinds currently in our swim bag.as far as i'm concerned the invention of "mist" sunscreen is right up there with TIVO on the awesome invention scale. i mean who wants to have greasy hands for the rest of the day, especially when you have four kids to lather up? yuck. so i have tried them ALL - for real, all of them. my favorite has been the same for years now, BULL FROG no rub spray. it's no doubt the most expensive but it's worth it, since our family started using it we haven't sunburned even once. it's good stuff, i highly recommend it.

so my advice is simple: love the skin you're in and some day, it will love you back. soak in the summer sun, but put on some sunscreen first!

something old - SPT

...well...something that's getting old anyway....there's a toddler in my bed. it has been a very long time since there was a toddler in my bed. what to do? i can't say that i'm very excited about this latest development. lately ethan's bedtime routine has been so great, we read, we rock, he goes to sleep, the end. but the last several nights in a row, right at about 4 am, he wakes up and cries and will only go back to sleep if he is in my bed. of course i know i should be strong and put up some sort of "i'm the mom and you're the toddler" fight, in fact, this would be my advice to anyone else suffering the same dilemma, but at 4 am, i'm still feeling the effects of the ambien i took at midnight. and even if i weren't who wants to argue with a two year old that early in the morning - we're both cranky and it's a no-win situation.so...we do what every other sleep-deprived mother does in this situation. we head to my bed where he sleeps, tossing and turning and kicking my kidneys, and i get to sleep too...sort of.

something new SPT

this week i'm starting a something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue theme. why? well, one because i missed lelly's spt of these things and....i need to shake things up a bit around here. so here we go...today's post is "something new".
spencer has always wanted to play the violin, ever since kindergarten. a classmate of his brought her tiny violin to class and played some notes for everyone and since then he has been hooked. he's convinced that the violin is the instrament for him. so, i told him that if he would take a few years of piano first, just to get down some basic note reading and training then we could switch to the violin at some point. so, it's official, he's switched. he's had two lessons so far and is constantly squeaking out 'twinkle twinkle little star' but there's a smile on his face while he does it. we'll see if it ends up being something he does forever a long time, i have a feeling he will. i love spencer's passion, he's very all or nothing kind of kid. he has wanted to play the violin for a long time, and never gave up on the idea, and now, here he is.

SPT - not so egg-stra-special edition

so i have been reading up on everyone's blogs and have enjoyed hearing about everyone's fun activities over spring break. and while i'm happy for everyone to get out of town and have some fun, i also have to say that i'm feeling a tad bit jealous! don't get me wrong, i very much enjoyed getting my toes painted, no homework to worry about, we did attend some fun egg hunts, enjoyed easter service and dinner, and redeemed my cupcake making skills, but besides all the small stuff, we really didn't do much of anything spectacular. so this SPT is supposed to be about something egg-stra special over easter break, and well, my answer is, not much. sorry. we did take a few friends to see the new horton movie. i have to admit that i was kind of disappointed in it. it was on the right track, funny characters and wonderful animation and an obviously good message, but there was just something missing. i found it rather short and kind of dull and i kept waiting for to do something big that never happened. the kids of course loved it and they're the experts any way right? so there you have it, our big not so egg-stra special spring breakness.
**does the 't' in spt sometimes stand for thursday?
have you seen this movie?
did you do anything egg-stra special over spring break?**

SPT - extra special edition

so lelly's spt this week goes like this...the spt challenge for next week is to photograph something that is extra special about you. it might be a physical feature, a talent, or an unknown secret. this spt is all about you! some of you may not know that lelly posts her spt challenge the friday before so we have all weekend to think about it. or in this case, freak out about it! why in the world is it so hard to think of great things about me? everything i've thought of so far is just ok and semi-unoriginal and therefore definitely NOT extra special. i still don't have a great answer for this spt but i decided to type a few things that other people have said about me, we'll see how this goes....
* at girl's camp a few summers ago we had to say something nice about the person sitting next to us. the leader sitting next to me said, "i love wende because she is so happy and friendly all the time that she's like a magnet making everyone around her want to be closer to her." i was stunned and humbled, and immediately tried to nervously laugh it off and dismiss it. she could see where i was going with it and immediately said to me, "don't you dare blow me off, you just let those words soak on in. " that was one of the best moments ever and the reason i can quote it is because i hurried and wrote it in my journal so i would never forget!

* rich says my special talent is being able to pick the most expensive thing on a menu without looking at any of the prices! :)

* my mother once said that she is constantly amazed at what an incredible mother i am. what the hey? i asked her. then she proceded to site all sorts of "incredible mother" evidence and ended up making my day. i don't know if i deserve this kind title, but she gave my ego some much needed strokes!

*one of my sister-in-laws has nick named me "the family therapist" because i'm a good listener and always have good advice. this is funny because i always thought i would be some kind of social worker or psychologist or something. i kind of am, if you happen to belong to my family. it's especially funny because my own self could use some therapy!
photo taken today courtesy of jenny
and lastly....what i say about myself. i am extra special because i have the ability to work smoothly in complete and utter chaos. i usually manage well the fine balance of hugging/kissing mother vs. disciplinarian. i am a loyal friend. i believe in "if i can be done, it can be over done" and "love is in the details" so i always go the extra mile. and, i see the world like i'm looking through a lens - beautiful photographs every where!

**what is extra special about you?
can you feel yourself being drawn in by my magnetism? :)
what roll do you play in your family?**

SPT - fill in the blank

i completely missed lelly's spt last tuesday, so have some repenting to do this week to be sure it gets done! once again, my tuesday was too hairy, so again i have an SPW meaning wednesday edition. i laughed when i read this week's challenge but knew exactly what i would post about...this is the official, fill in the blank phrase (her challenge for this week)...

the other day, i was in my _____________, and i noticed this _______________. my only thought was, "why do i still have this hanging around my house?!?"

i am a manic closet cleaner, i start to feel seriously claustrophobic to have too much of anything crammed in the closets/cupboards and right now mine are ripe for the pickin' if you know what i mean! so my spt fill in the blank goes like this...

the other day, i was in my laundry room, and notice these piles of clothes to give away. my only thought was, "why do i still have these bags (filled and ready for delivery) hanging around my house?!?this spt was perfect for ethan and i's schedule today - stay home and clean EVERYTHING! i have so many projects around the house, and the three new inches of snow that i shoveled this morning made staying home even more compelling! one thing you should know about me, and something that i tell all my family and neighbors, is that if you come to my door at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and i'm still in my pajams, it's been a very productive day! when i get dressed and ready, i feel like i need to go run errands, sometimes as an excuse to run away from all that feels overwhelming in my home. if i don't get dressed, i'm not presentable (like this self portait) and by not being dressed and presentable, i sort of force myself to stay home and be productive. so today was a pajama sort of productive, which is good. i got lots of laundry done, many pictures hung and even cleaned my bathroom! this is me, happy and unpresentable in my pajams, standing in front of my very clean kitchen sink and counter. i still have tons to do tomorrow but at least i've made some head way on it all. at least i got those pesky bags of clothing out of my hair! as always, thanks lelly for the journalling spring board.
**can you be productive in your pjs?**
**how do you feel about junk in the closests?**

SPT - what's in a name?

the "t" in SPT can stand for thursday right? so this is a self portait thursday because i'm a little behind this week. lelly's spt for this week was how your blog got it's name. mine is so easy because several years ago i had to do a scrapbook presentation for our stake's women's conference. i was trying to show other women that it is important to include yourself in your scrapbook, some day the pages about you will be the most precious to your children. so, i did this layout about myself entitled "the view from my lens". the journaling reads:

It is true that I am definitely guilty of seeing the world through the lens of my camera. Special events are really just "photo-ops" for me, a good excuse to snap some pictures. This picture of me is probably a pretty accurate reflection of how my kids will remember me, behind my camera. But truth be told, I wouldn't have it any other way. I can't pin-point exactly what it is about photography that I love so much, the subjects, the lighting, the pure ART of it all. But, I do know that when a pictures come back with all of the right elements, I get a rush of adrenaline that's better than ice cream. My skill has improved over the years, but I still have lots to learn. Hopefully my kids will not grow too weary of posing and they might even appreciate some of the precious moments I have been able to capture.

Since this blog is really just a digital scrapbook/journal kind of a thing, "the view from my lens" seemed like an appropriate title. many of my moments, as a mother, a wife, and especially a photographer are experienced through my view finder. and that's ok with me, it's one of my biggest joys.

**is your hobby better than ice cream?**

spt challenge

ok, so i'm going to admit that i had a really hard time with this week's SPT challenge from lelly...

is there a part of you, a part of your home, a part of your creativity that gets more attention from you than anything else? when you look at your reflection, do you automatically zoom in on a feature you love or you loathe? when you are in your creative space, is there one project that gets your attention before all the others?

so, when it comes to my life, i would have to say that i spend a lot of time trying to keep track of six schedules without forgetting anything and without going crazy. this translates to a full planner that has to be updated several times a day or i lose my footing. i have adhd which means i forget everything unless it is written down, hence the loaded planner full of little notes like "finish yw project" two weeks before it needs to be done because i know i'll forget between now and then if i don't remind myself now. i do love to look back on past planners, especially the really ridiculously busy days and think, i did it, we did it, i juggled all of that and it turned out ok. i also think that in the life of a SAHM, i often feel so unstructured that it's difficult to track what i've done all day and the planner provides some sort of evidence that i am needed in this family and that i do get things done. i think that's why i love blogging so much, documenting what i do and why i matter.

on to my reflection... the feature that gets the most attention right now is my hair, hands down. this is partly because it is so long that it takes more time to blow dry and style than anything else. this maybe seems silly or vane, maybe it is, but i'm willing to give it a few of my precious minutes each day because right now, i really feel like it's the only pretty thing i have going for me! that sounds an awful lot like self-pitty which is not really what i'm going for here. don't you go through phases where nothing about you feels great? right now, this is what my hair is doing for me, it makes me feel like, at least i have a feature, on the outside anyway, i know i'm drop dead gorgeous on the inside! he he. my hair helps makes me feel feminine during a time that i feel totally out of control with my weight, which, unfortunately is how i often gauge my self-worth, so dumb i know but it's hard to correct old habits. technically, these photographs are not self portaits, allie helped me take them while i was getting ready for the day. when i was looking through them trying to choose which ones to post, i laughed because they look so much like the memories i have of watching my mother get ready in the mirror! when i looked at these photos close up i was surprised to find that they say to me, i don't really feel very pretty. it's just a phase, it will pass, but for now, hey at least have great hair! i would never have thought of any of this if it weren't for the spt. some times i need a picture to see myself clearly, hence the need for SPTs, thanks lelly for the great journaling spring board you provide every week, even when the results are difficult to face.
**was this spt hard for you?**
**do you think i'm wallowing in self pitty after reading this?**
(i'm really not, but this post is kind of a bummer i agree)

the new me

Lelly's SPT this week is this:

stop for a minute and take a self-portrait, a snapshot of you in the here and now. what ARE your dreams and goals for 2008? what is your word? what are you thinking about right now as we plunge head-first into the new year?

Tuesdays are my most over-scheduled day so I'm going to take this challenge today. I really love the idea of setting goals for the year, especially when you only set a few. I am a big believer in the rule of threes, maybe by Covey? The idea is, you set a goal and find three things you can do that month to help you reach your goal. Then you find three things you can do that week, then three things each day. I like this for people like me who get distracted so it helps me keep focus. I may have to blog about how I'm doing throughout the year to keep my focus. This year I'm going to set two goals, two is about all I can realistically handle, plus they cover more than one base. The first one has to do with my word of the year, which is:

patience

I chose patience because it's definitely something I could definitely work on. I thought of this as a goal a few years ago when I was at a Relief Society thing and there was a speaker there. She was talking about recognizing the good thing about ourselves and mentioned being a very patient person, it's something she appreciates about herself. She said her children all know that they can come to her and tell her anything and she won't snap at them or over react. I had kind of an 'ah-ha' moment asking myself, "do my children feel this way?" Probably not. What's funny is that I don't usually mind waiting in line at the grocery store, or dealing with toddler craziness or my chaotic schedule or even middle of the night tend to the baby issues. I feel like I'm pretty laid back, pretty patient already but not when it comes to my kids. So, that's my goal, pretty straight forward. Now I just have to think of my three things today. :)

My second goal is a little broader in it's reaches. I resolve to become a more spiritual person. I was taking notes during testimony meeting on Sunday and made a kind of list that I could work on. Committing to daily personal prayer, scripture study, family scripture study, all these things are somewhat lacking at the current moment. I can do better. I will be reporting back.

So maybe at the end of 2008 I will be able to report that I am a more zen, patient, laid back, spiritual being and maybe we can do some yoga together.

SPT last minute voting

I'm finally on board with this SPT stuff, check out Lelly's blog to read more about it. It stands for She Photographs on Tuesdays and every Tuesday there is some kind of journaling start to keep you blogging about yourself. So, yesterday's SPT was about voting. The list of things, people and places was especially long yesterday, even for a Tuesday which almost always end in chocolate. I printed out my Tuesday list and hung it on the cupboard so the family could keep up with who and where. I printed "DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!" as a note to myself that I could possibly get carried away and forget. I vote where Spencer goes to school and since I was there twice yesterday to pick him up and drop him off for a Dr.'s appt that would've been my perfect opportunity, but no. In picking him up I was of course running a few minutes late so no time there. At the dr.'s office I kept seeing people with there cute read "I voted" stickers and started to feel a little naked to be honest. When I dropped Spencer at school after the appt my bladder was so full that I knew I couldn't take the long line just then and peeing in the public school bathroom? I don't think so. On the way home from Taylor's choir concert I told the kids to wait in the car (don't be angry at me, they're older children and it's ok to leave them in the car) and dashed into the voting both just before closing time. I never even thought to take a cool picture like Jill. Next time. There are advantages to voting early, you get to wear a cool sticker all day not to mention crossing the item off of your mental list. By the time I voted there were no stickers left! Last night I had a dream that I was headed into a busy mall with tons of people and there was a lady wearing a voting sticker asking everyone if they had voted today or not while she checked for their sticker. She angrily asked me why I had not voted and I said, "but I did vote, just now!" She glared at me and said, "then where's your voting sticker?!" I had no idea the sticker was that important to me, actually I think it's the deeper message about how important voting is to me, but next year I'll be sure to vote early so I can wear one all day long.
