...well...something that's
getting old anyway....there's a toddler in my bed. it has been a very long time since there was a toddler in my bed. what to do? i can't say that i'm very excited about this latest development. lately ethan's bedtime routine has been so great, we read, we rock, he goes to sleep, the end. but the last several nights in a row, right at about 4 am, he wakes up and cries and will only go back to sleep if he is in my bed. of course i know i should be strong and put up some sort of "i'm the mom and you're the toddler" fight, in fact, this would be my advice to anyone else suffering the same dilemma, but at 4 am, i'm still feeling the effects of the ambien i took at midnight. and even if i weren't who wants to argue with a two year old that early in the morning - we're both cranky and it's a no-win situation.

so...we do what every other sleep-deprived mother does in this situation. we head to
my bed where he sleeps, tossing and turning and kicking my kidneys, and i get to sleep too...sort of.

I had one of those bed-stealers - and my mom said that as long as they wake up in their own bed, they will outgrow it quickly - and he did! Of course, it was a pain to either stay awake 'til he went back to sleep or wake up before him, but it worked! Good luck!
YIKES...I can see the rationale about wanting to just sleep....but I also see a very bad habit to break sometime in the future....it's not cute when 5 year olds still sleep with you...not to mention what it does for the romance....hang in there...be strong!
o0ooo been there! in fact I woke up with the peanut in my bed today!
I like to be able to sleep in a little bit later and if letting them in bed makes that possible... I am right there with you on the ambien and usually Dan has to be the one to either invite in or kick out the door! By the way, please don't think less of me, but what is SPT?
I can totally relate here...I have no answers...I too am that sleep deprived mother who does what she has to to sleep! Good luck:) let me know if you find something that works...I have not yet!
I think we have all been there. At our house you have to sleep on the floor when you come in our room not the bed!! Emily sleep on our floor for a long long time.....Kelly finally told her he was taking her room away if she didn't start sleeping in there. It is amazing what we to do to get some sleep!
Except this morning of course.
I'm sorry you can't blog...hopefully this goes to your email....I LOVED today and everything about it...you are the BEST! THANK YOU!
I swore with every new baby that I wouldn't let them into my bed! Well--they have ALL slept in my bed at one point or another! It has gotten less and less with each child however, I guess I am a slow learner!
He is so cute!!
That first photo is priceless, wende!
