sunday games

I don't blog about my husband as often as I should and so even though this is not a super exciting photograph, it makes my heart flutter just a touch. This is a typical Sunday afternoon at our home, Rich at the table with one or all of the kids playing some kind of board game. We try really hard to not have the TV or Nintendo on on Sunday and so of course this means they have to try more conventional ways of entertaining themselves. (aren't we the meanest parents ever!?) Rich is really great to put down the crossword puzzle and rally the troops, sometimes one at a time for a game of Stratego or chess. I know he doesn't think that it's that big of a deal, but it is to them. It's time that they look forward to each week and some day it will be something that they love to do with their own kids. He doesn't give himself enough credit for being a great dad, infact his response when I tell him this is "some days I'm better than others". What he doesn't know is that the kids (and I) think he's great every day.
