twenty months

Ethan is 20 months old today, I can't believe this, he is so close to two! I watch him taking a nap and have time to study his sleeping self and am shocked by how big he is and how much room he takes up in the crib. Which is so funny because he is still only 23 or so pounds which is so small for his age. Time goes by way too quickly, especially when you're pretty sure he's your last. I am laughing lately at Ethan who is totally obsessed with the funniest things. We have kind of a second pantry in the dining room and it, like a few of our closests, doesn't have a door for various reasons, lip stick house related. Anyway, there are several rows of different canned items and every time we walk passed it he points and grunts that there is something in there that he would like to have. I couldn't figure it out, we used to keep the marshmallows there, but learned quickly to keep them out of sight, so I would say to him "sorry buddy, the marshmallows are all gone", but this never seemed to satisfy him, there was something else there he wanted, but WHAT? Finally I figured it out, OLIVES, he wants olives, all the time. Sometimes I break down and open a can and it's like Christmas morning for this little guy. They can be whole ones, chopped ones, sliced ones, he's not picky about their form as long as they are edible. The other day I showed him that he could wear them on his fingers and he skipped through the kitchen in his little giggly-sing-song thing that he does showing each and every person how cool that was that he now has a place to store his olives. What would we do without this little guy. Allie and I were talking the other day about how wierd it is to think that we were a family for so long before he came, we're so glad he's finally here, we all love him very much. Olive boy.
