a new hat

i am a woman of many hats, actually i don't know any women who aren't and sunday i got a brand new one to wear. i was called to be the girls camp director of my ward and after i got over the initial, "oh dear" shock of it all, i started to get excited, in a nervous kind of way! i really did not have great girls camp experiences growing up, well at least after marci moved away and so i have always felt like i would do anything besides girls camp. i'm just not really a nature girl, i mean spider-lover kind of nature girl. i couldn't find a great girls camp picture (what the hey?) but i did find one of me on the pioneer trek when i was fifteen. do i look super happy to you? a few years ago i went with my old stake and had a wonderful time, mostly because i wanted it to be different for my girls than it was for me. it was what i needed but i struggled a little with homesickness too. i start to miss my kids when i'm apart from them for too long, my cute hubby too. i'm a little stressed about leaving ethan, i'm not sure i'm ready for that yet, he's still so little. but i'm soooo excited to be going with allie for her first year! she'll help me to not be so homesick. i'm sure it will work out but my head is still swimming with all the details to sort out. and there's that pesky "all or nothing" personality trait of mine which makes it difficult for me not to dive in and want every minute of it to be fantastic. i'm sure it will be great, i'm sure it will be better for me probably than the girls who attend, but i am excited. so there you go, any good ideas, especially themes, let me know, i would love to hear them! hopefully i'll be able to take off the webelos leader hat some time soon. i hope they can find someone to replace me soon.

**did you love girls camp growing up?**
**do you get homesick easily?**
**will you share you great ideas with me please?**

I only went to girl's camp a few times growing up. One time I did go we rained out and came home and camped at the church. I never went to Stake Camp......my parents always planned our family vacations the same time as camp. I have had fun the last 2 years going as a leader especially since I was able to share the experience with Emily. You will be an awesome camp director....the girls will love you!!

Girl's camp is one of my favorite memories growing up. I absolutely loved it. Girl's camp for me was like living a disney movie type experience. It was perfect.

This year our stake has stake girl's camp. Sky is the stake camp director & I am her assistant. So there you go! Lots of girls camp going around. A few years back kris wright was camp director & I was her assistant. That was an amazing year. I hadn't been since I was a kid- it was fun. But alas I am old now & I hate sleeping in tents....
You're going to be great You will have a blast!!

Oh my heck I about died when I read this...Girls Camp callings must be going around...I just got called to be a leader for our stake camp this year! I'm going to be helping with the Jr. leaders (5ht and 6ht year girls) from our stake.

I love girls camp, but I was spoiled because we went to Camp Brighton that was really like a Disney movie. It was just up from Brighton Ski Resort and they had cabins, flushing toilets, a lodge with a cafeteria and a arts and craft cabin. I still remember the songs from the song book and riding up on a bus to camp. I loved it!!!!!

You will do a wonderful job! I am not a camping/girl either. I know just from the other great things you have done in the past that girls camp will be no exception:)
