he keeps us young

it's a good thing we have a four year old around the house on a day like halloween.
the teenagers all went in different directions to go to parties of their own, mom had to hand out candy, so someone has to stick around to take dad trick-or-treating!

otherwise, he might get bored.
how about the cutest buzz ever? that should keep him busy.
to infinity, and beyond!

halloween

there are several reasons why disneyland is a great place to spend halloween...you don't have to deal with a ton of candy for the next year, it never snows in california (which is does every year in utah) so you don't spend the night bargaining with your children over how many more houses they can visit before your toes freeze off, no one wears anything bloody at disneyland and $5 disney charcter t-shirts are all the older kids need for a costume. hooray!of course, there's also the awesome decorations....(which i didn't do a super great job of documenting)and if you're lucky, you just might spot a tiny buzz light year roaming around the park. and just incase you get confused by all the other buzz's there, you'll know that this particular buzz belongs to me because he's the one that refuses to wear the purple sock helmet thing on his head, fyi."don't worry, i've set my laser from stun to KILL!""to infinity and beyond!"
happy halloween!

there are witches in the air...

And princesses, and sock hoppers and skeletons and even a little monkey! This Halloween all of the older kids were excited to be able to trick or treat on their own which means we only saw them long enough to snap pictures and off they went, Taylor didn't even go out, he just played Nintendo with James. Spencer was out with his pack of friends, Isaac and Deema, who we love...and Allie was out with a large group of friends from all over who will all be together next year in Jr. High, they can't wait. I blew getting a great picture of Allie by herself, her and Kayla dressed up as sock hoppers and they looked soooo dang cute. Unfortunately they're standing in the back so you can't see their cute skirts, courtesy of Kayla. Love those glasses though! The cousins all came over to trick or treat with Ethan and Rich said he loved knocking on all the doors which I believe because he came home jumping around all excitedly.Tons of loot for weeks of sugar intake and Ethan is too young to care that the Snicker's bars are missing from his bucket already. Jerry Seinfield once said something like, "as a kid you hear about this holiday called Halloween where you dress up scary and strangers are allowed to give you candy, and you say to yourself, 'could this really be true'? I love Jerry, and I love Halloween, next year I think I'm going to have my camera ready to take pictures of my favorite costumes. My favorite part is seeing all the neighbor kids that I know dressed up, and I've always wanted to have a sort of costume contest. Maybe next year I'll give it a try.

deep clean fun

Yesterday Rich went back to work while the kids stayed home for one more day of the UEA weekend. I wish I could say that we did something exciting, but it was really just a day for the kids to play with friends and hang out. I cleaned my office today. Not the casual straightening kind of clean, I mean putting everything away in it's proper place, then re-doing the proper place, hanging stuff up on my bulletin board, organized my family's file folders, pick everything up to dust kind of clean. It took me most of the day but it feels GREAT! In my organized state of clean, I was able to finish Sally Foster in-putting and work on some photo editing. I still have a stack of those, but because my office is clean I feel like I can actually get stuff done in here! And maybe, maybe I'll be able to actually scrapbook this week! Does anyone remember scrapbooking? I hope I still remember how. Apey came over with her kids so we could get some Halloween shots knowing that today would be too crazy to try. Makenna is in that worried smile stage, but I did get a cute shot when April made her laugh. Ethan was a pill and wanted nothing to do with having his costume on or standing still for the picture. Luckily I got a couple of ok ones. So Ashton wins the cute baby prize for the day, isn't he cute? But he had his moments, these are classic, and probably my favorite! I'm such a mean auntie!

oh what a beautiful mornin'

Oh what a beautiful mornin', Oh what a beautiful day. This is my most favorite musical of all time and I can often be heard singing this song on any sunny morning. Today is definitely one of those mornings, I mean, mornin's, the weather is absolutely stunning! AND it's Friday AND it's a four day weekend because of UEA. I love Fridays, I'm looking forward to getting a lot done this weekend and Rich is even taking Monday off to do something fun as a family, I'm so excited. This morning started early with the anticipation of our elementary school's annual Halloween Parade. The sixth grade puts on a fantastic spook alley with planning that starts during the first week of school! Allie has been looking forward to this since she was in third grade, so we took her make up and hair very seriously this morning. She was part of the huanted High School Musical group which rose from the dead to dance a huanted dance. Dance? Yup, that's what dead people do you know, didn't you ever see Thriller? So, lots of hairspray, teasing and a little bit of baby powder and we came up with this...yuck. The zombie eyes she made for the picture are a nice touch though. The spook alley really was great, I wish I could take better pictures in the dark, a third grader in front of me screamed when a bug dropped in front of her. The truth is, I'm glad it was her and not me, if the bug had fallen on me I would've done more than scream, probably taken out a few little kids during my sprint for the exit. Seriously, I hate bugs. When I got home, Ethan did a little happy dance when he saw me (he was home with Rich who was babysitting the heating guy) and then hugged me so tight I remembered why I wanted another baby so baddly, I love these kinds of moments, they are a mom's thank you. We played play dough the rest of the morning, he is particularly fond of poking holds in the play dough shapes and wearing them like rings. We made the bed, wiped down my bathroom and did some laundry. We are home bound today because the heating guy is here (you remember plumber crack guy, I'm soooo tempted to go down there and snap a picture!) fixing our heat YAY! I did escape for a few minutes to make a run to Target, I need to blog some time about why I love this place so much. I found these beauties with cute seals to match, in the stationery aisle, don't they just scream GOOD MAIL! I can't wait to use them...very me.Before Taylor left for the Jr. High Halloween dance, I snapped a few pics of him. Can you guess what he is? A chick magnet. Is he cute or what? Beautiful mornin', beautiful day.
