quirky bits

it is a well-known fact, for those who know me best, that i wear flip-flops year round. mostly it's because of spiders - i know, i know, i need therapy, but long story short, i just really prefer an open-toed shoe. in fact, i really only own one pair of socks. besides the spider factor, my feet are rarely ever cold and a little snow on the toes really doesn't bother me at all. last monday april came over for a visit to find me shovelling the driveway in my flip-flops.she found it humorous enough to take a photo and commented about how it's just "so wende". she's right, and it's such an accurate "portait" of me and my quirky tendancies that i had to post it, you know, for posterity and all. (and yes, that's ethan's new tiny shovel - i swear it works better than the big ones for clearing those last little bits of ice). by the way, i do wear closed-toed shoes some times and i especially love slippers for around the house.

**tell me about the qurirky bits of you!**
**do you have a fear of naked toes meeting arachnid in the dark unseen spaces of your shoe?**

I have a major problem with closed toe shoes...I don't wear a lot of flip flops in the winter though..but definitely slip on shoes are the way to go.

I also love love love to wear angora socks at night and when we camp they are soooooo warm and very soft and comfy.

I can really relate because I don't like to wear socks. There is just something about being bare-foot that makes me happy. And Chelsea has inherited that trait :)

That is so funny! I love it when people point out quirky things about me that I do a lot but never really think of it as a "me" thing. I am almost as bad as the flip-flop thing - only from the other direction! - I can't wear too many closed heel shoes. LOVE mules, sandals, crocs, anything slip-on. Even when I am traipsing across someone's snowy lawn to go Visiting Teaching like we did today - I got a lot of snow in my shoes via the back - but do I at least put on a pair of socks?? Heck no!

That is too funny! My quirky thing is that I can't sleep unless I have a blanket over my feet. I've always been afraid a snake will bite me or that someone will grab my feet! I've been scared of that for as long as I can remember!

Wende~ you are too funny! I love the photos! What about just checking your shoe before you put in on for spiders? does that just not work?
I do LOVE flipflops though...I am just a frozen girl in the winter though, so I couldn't pull it off.
I guess my kids would say my qurirky thing is...purell, purell...

I can see myself doing this too, unless the snow was deep. I tend to wear flip-flops as often as possible because I like me feet to be free, though now you've got me thinking about spiders. (I do remember the spider in the slipper in Arachnaphobia.)
